A New Face Brings Curb Appeal

Hunt Construction Services, Inc. was hired to replace the facade of an outdated industrial building in Plainview.  The owner recently purchased the building which had a very dated look with virtually no curb appeal.  Plans were drawn and approved for a complete new facade and work quickly began.

First, steel supports were installed so demolition on the old facade could occur.  A temporary wooden wall was installed for security purposes.  The steel company fabricated horizontal beams, vertical columns and diagonal bracing for the new facade at their facility, so that they could quickly mobilize once the demolition work was completed.

A skid steer loader with a pneumatic breaker made the demo operation a seamless and safe one.  The old windows and doors were removed first to mitigate the chance of breaking glass causing injury.  The old face brick and concrete block were chipped away course by course, loaded into a dump truck and carted off site.

The steel erectors arrived and began rigging the columns and beams that would serve as the support for the front facade.  Diagonal braces were welded from the new beams to the existing bar joists supporting the roof system.  With the beams in place, the new facade took shape as the future window openings could now be seen.

Next, the masons arrived, set up their multi-tiered scaffolding and began installing concrete backer block adding depth and strength to the facade.  Once completed, work began on the split face block giving the building a new look.  Accent piers,  constructed of smooth faced concrete block, were added to each side of the main entrance according to the architect's design.   Pre cast concrete window sills were installed.  The main entrance now had an enhanced attractive look.

Custom double entry doors frames were fabricated.  Hardware, glass for the windows, transom and side lights completed another scope of work for the new facade.

The entry mansard and canopy were sheathed with Dens-Glass and finished with a foam, mesh and stucco EIFS system.  The new facade was tied into the existing roof which was re-graveled and the final touch was the installation of two handsome sconces at the main entrance.

The updated facade gives much needed curb appeal to an outdated building.  Wow!.
